Apple May Be Set To Bring iPhone To Verizon Wireless
April 28, 2009
Washington (dbTechno) - Apple and Verizon Wireless are reportedly close to a deal that would bring the iPhone to the wireless provider.
Verizon and Apple have been in talks for weeks about the possibility of bringing the iPhone, or a new version of the iPhone, to the network.
As of right now, Apple has a deal with AT&T which will keep the iPhone as an exclusive device on their network, but that deal is running out.
The agreement is set to expire in 2010, but AT&T is scrambling to have the deal extended.
AT&T has been enjoying a great deal of success thanks to the iPhone, gaining customers from Verizon, and other networks.
Apple definitely has some power in terms of negotiations since they have the hottest phone on the market.
With the 80 million Verizon subscribers available to them, they are probably seeing another huge opportunity to expand.
We will have to see how this all plays out, but whoever gets the iPhone will probably be immediately seen as the wireless leader in the near future.
