Google Improves iPhone Heading Into Macworld
January 15, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Google announced on Monday that they are doing a major upgrade to their Web services offered to Apple iPhone users, just one day before the big Macworld keynote speech by Apple’s Steve Jobs.
Google stated on Monday that they are releasing improvements to the entire interface of the iPhone, which should upgrade it quite a bit and give it features it never had before. Google stated that the enhancements to the user interface are to allow for better response to touch-screen input.
They also are giving iPhone users the ability to customize the tabs on the Google.com menu bar. Auto-complete is also being added to help with e-mails in Gmail, as well as access to iGoogle widgets while on the Web with an iPhone.
Google put out a press release stating “These new features provide iPhone users with a desktop-like Google Web application experience ini terms of ease-of-use, speed, feature richness but optimized for the iPhone. This experience is made possible by the iPhone’s general usability and the capabilities of its Web browser, combined with Google’s innovative mobile Web applications.”
Google will also upgrade Calendar, as well as other features.
