iPhone SDK Delayed Until End of March

February 24, 2008

Apple announced last October that the iPhone SDK would be available in February, but it appears that it will miss its estimated launch month.

The iPhone SDK has been highly-anticipated by many as it will open up the iPhone to many third-party applications, games, and more.

Reports are stating though that the SDK is simply not ready for release as of yet.

It was reported in BusinessWeek that the iPhone SDK has been pushed back by about one to three weeks.

The current release date is set for anywhere from the middle toward the end of March.

There is no reason as to why the SDK has been delayed.

This could also mean though that the next iPhone firmware update, 1.1.4, will be delayed as well.

Apple has yet to make any official announcement regarding the delay of the iPhone SDK.

I have used the feedback link on apple’s website. And I can only say that I’m so disappointed with the progress Apple is doing with the iPhone.
Now the SDK is delayed ? What’s new… Apple need to address all the problems this phone has. So I can only say that this is just another disappointment.

The good news is that the Hackers has solved this problem… they have had all the nice features for 6 months already.
Why is it that Apple can not make these programs faster ?

It’s not that they can’t make the programs, the problem is allowing developers great freedom without sacrificing freedom. The Jailbreak Hack community has already seen a few viruses for the iphone/ipod touch. None on them to clever but, regardless, I much rather apple is careful. I have to do periodic reload on my PC, I rather not the same on my phone. Try and be a little better informed.

Adam, you honestly think that “viruses” is the big concern for Apple? It’s marketting BS… they’re being “extra careful” to not shoot themselves in the foot… the smallest mistake and the can loose millions of $$ in business. I expect this SDK to be crippled in some way to the benefit of Apple.
