COO Says Apple On Track To Sell 10 Million iPhones in 2008

Apple Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook stated that Apple is on track to sell 10 million units in 2008, confirming that they have not slipped off of their previous target goal they set. He also stated that the iPhone is not permanently attached to a carrier, as things could changeWashington (dbTechno) - Apple Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook stated that Apple is on track to sell 10 million units in 2008, confirming that they have not slipped off of their previous target goal they set. He also stated that the iPhone is not permanently attached to a carrier, as things could change.

Cook tried to ease the concern of investors by stating that Apple is well on their way to hitting their 10 million iPhones sold mark in 2008.

There have been many analysts who have come out and stated that Apple may miss this, and may only sell 7 or 8 million, but Cook has argued otherwise.

One thing Cook did state which was very interesting was that Apple is not married to a carrier.

He stated that the iPhone could be unlocked and placed on different carriers over time.

This has led many to believe that Cook was hinting at the much-talked-about 3G iPhone, which could surely boost sales of the device, and also garner customers of the current iPhone to upgrade.

The biggest hurdle Apple has had though is getting customers to go to the carrier that the iPhone is on. Not your average customer will be able to take the risk and unlock an iPhone.

Things may be changing though as the iPhone continues to evolve day by day.
