T-Mobile Announces Launch Of 3G In US Cities Throughout 2008
May 5, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - T-Mobile has announced that they are now ready to roll-out their 3G wireless network. They have plans to launch the network starting in New York City, and then expanding throughout 2008 to many markets across the U.S.
Throughout 2008, T-Mobile has plans to continue the roll-out of their 3G network.
The company believes that by the end of the year, the high-speed data network will be available in cities where the majority of customers already rely on data services.
The new network will provide faster data speeds when accessing the Web or downloading content at no extra charge. It also supports voice services as well.
The speeds will increase from the current 50kbps to around 200 or 300 kbps.
T-Mobile stated that future handsets will operate on the both the older 2.5G networks and the 3G network, choosing the best available one.
Not only does this help current T-Mobile customers, but it will also attract new customers as the company stated they will now be able to serve more customers, allowing for the company to continue to grow at a rapid pace.
The network is based on HSDPA, a high-speed technology also used by AT&T Inc.
