Apple iPhone No Longer Exclusive In Australia, India

Sydney (dbTechno) - Apple is beginning to move father and father away from exclusive iPhone distribution agreements with mobile operators outside the U.S. Apple has signed deals with multiple carriers to sell the iPhone in Australia and India before the end of the year.
SingTel made the announcement on Monday that they have signed a deal with Apple to sell the iPhone in Singapore, India, the Philippines, and Australia.
This comes after Vodafone announced they will also be selling the Apple iPhone in 10 different countries, including Australia, India, and Italy.
Building on this line-up of mobile operators further was Telecom Italia, who also announced they would be selling the iPhone in Italy.
Apple has started to move away from exclusive distribution deals, which was a practice they preached during the early days of the Apple iPhone.
The SingTel deal involved many different mobile operators including Bharti Airtel, Globe Telecom, and Optus who will all handle sales in Australia, India, and Philippines.
The expectation is that the iPhone will release through all of these providers at some point this year.
