RIM Next-Gen BlackBerry Bold Makes Huge Debut
May 12, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Research in Motion have been hard at work and under a lot of pressure to put out a great product with the next-gen BlackBerry, and they apparently have done just that with the BlackBerry Bold.
RIM has come out with some fantastic phones as of late, but nothing which could really put the BlackBerry up against the Apple iPhone in terms of the cool factor, until now.
The BlackBerry Curve, Pearl, etc. have done very well at retail, but the Bold looks to surpass them in a big way.
The BlackBerry Bold, or BlackBerry 9000 will be the first of a series of new devices to use the faster 624 MHz processor, as well as improved memory and wireless connectivity support.
It will also run on a revamped operating system.
The BlackBerry Bold boasts a 320×480 screen and also has built-in DataViz DocumentsToGo software.
The BlackBerry Bold is also expected to be a device that will push 3G support in a big way, with an improved Web browser as well which is said to rival the Apple iPhone Safari browser.
BlackBerry has also announced a $150 million development fund to promote mobile applications for services for BlackBerry platforms.
