Apple Reaches Settlement Over Visual Voicemail In iPhone
June 17, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - Apple and AT&T have reached a settlement with Klausner Technology. The lawsuit was filed last December and revolved around the visual voicemail technology used in the Apple iPhone.
Klausner Technology stated that the patent for the visual voicemail technology belonged to them, which is why they filed the lawsuit.
The visual voicemail technology on the iPhone allows users to scroll through voicemails and listen to any one they desire without having to play them all in order.
The company filed the lawsuit back in December 2007, demanding $360 million from Apple and AT&T.
Klausner Technology cited two U.S. patents in the lawsuit, and also named Comcast, Cablevision, and Skype as others who have infringed upon them.
Financial details of the settlement have not been released, but Apple has agreed to license the technology.
