Apple Has The Power To Disable iPhone Apps Remotely

Boston (dbTechno) - Apple has received a great deal of praise over the past month in regards to their move to open up the iPhone to third-party applications. Things are no longer as sunny for Apple though, as it has been revealed that they have been removing apps from the App Store, and have the power to disable iPhone apps remotely.
Reports state that a “kill switch” has been found in the Apple iPhone 2.0 OS, which allows Apple to basically disable any application that they please from your iPhone.
The code was found by an independent iPhone developer by the name of Jonathan Zdziarski.
Apple has been in the spotlight this week, as they have been removing several applications from the iPhone App Store.
The most recent victims include NetShare, BoxOffice, I Am Rich, as well as PhoneSaber.
None of these applications to this point though have been killed off of iPhones using this newly found “kill switch.”
Why this is the case is still not known, as many await to see what Apple actually can do with it.
This “kill switch” discovery has many people wondering just how much privacy they have on their iPhone, and what Apple can actually do with it.

What is everyone so upset about… Apple is just treating it’s customers just like the RIAA treats music buyers…. Apples excuse about protecting the experience for it’s customers is just smoke and mirrors… What they are really protecting is their bottom line… In their mind set. You don’t own the phone. You only bought the experience… How did that work out when you waited in line for hours when it should have only be a few minutes because you couldn’t take it home until is was activated… So now comes the back door to your phone… Put something on it that they don’t like and they will remove it… Anybody who buys an Apple product is just doing it as a social statous symbol and are just thowing their money away… Let loose tha Apple fanboys….

In a world where people feel justified in taking money out of the pockets of musicians and software developers by innocently acquiring pirated copies, it may not be such a bad idea for the media players to have a kill switch for apps. Tell me another way to protect intellectual rights, other than trusting in the “good nature” and inherent sense of honor of our fellow man…
I do not agree Blake, as there are many people who pirate software, Allowing Apple to have that kind of power to go in your phone whenever they feel like is a breach of security. I smell a class action lawsuit boiling…
