Blackberry Storm Faces Mixed Reception After Launch

Research In Motion has always been known for some great mobile devices as the Blackberry devices have been the most popular phones for years now.

The Blackberry Storm has not been received all that well to this point at retail though due to some key errors by RIM.

The device is offered for $199 with a two-year contract through Verizon Wireless, and was met with a great deal of hype when it launched.

Many retail locations sold out instantly with the device, but the issue to this point has been keeping it in stock and getting it into the hands of consumers.

The Blackberry Storm has been met with some mixed reactions by many experts in the industry.

The majority of the issues surround the on-screen keyboard that is with the device, as Blackberry pros have been reporting of troubles typing, scrolling etc.

Whether or not the Blackberry Storm is an iPhone killer remains to be seen, but it hasn’t gotten off to a flawless start as RIM and Verizon would have hoped.

This is nuts. My wife just got one of these and the unit at first was a tiny bit of pain to navigate until you read the book and figure out that there are two kids on taps. A light tap to select the option you want then a hard tap or click to select the actual action. I have not found any of these news sites stating this at all. I think before the comment they need to try the device themselves.

I went out the day after the launch to purchase two of these. The Verizon rep informed me that they had sold 1.2 million in the first day. That each store had initially received 40, and then received an additional drop shippment of 40 more.

That being said, the two units for my wife and I were not available, we were informed that they would be arriving Dec.15 at the latest… we are waiting… From what I saw with the demo it looks to be a solid phone. I am more interested in what the phone’s network connections can do.

These companies need to stop their sheepish drone towards making an iPhone killer. I doubt Steve Jobs sat down with a blackberry trying to figure out how to kill it. Rather like true innovators with great minds, a blank page with two sides…pro and con. Shaq did not become the most dominant center in the 90s trying to emulate Abdul-Jabbar. Nor did Oprah copy Donahue. Obama became the most popular man in world history seemingly overnight not by becoming Bill Clinton, he obliterated the whole process in favor of a new, fresh and innovative one that created a new energy or….buzz. Sorta like iPhone. You wanna make an iPhone killer? Forget about what makes iPhone hot. Forget about it’s users and what they like just like Jobs said screw you stuffy crackberry users with their stupid keyboard and primitive track wheel. Create something new altogether and stop with the futile iPhone emulators. The storm, instinct, G1….not iPhone killers. They are iPhone clone which leaves the consumer thinking-why not just get the real thing. All you dumb companies trying to “kill” iphone with it touchscreen displays n bootleg app stores are doing with your doomed projects is spending millions to market iPhone.LOL. Another chess move by the geniuses at apple a la microsoft. Score 10 million for apple. RIM, enjoy losing more of your market share…you guys are the new Windows. Old and outdated.

I bought the blackberry storm 4 days ago and it was the worst phone I ever owned. The reception was terrible. I dropped calls with every phone call I made. The touch screen was even worse you continue to hit buttons you don’t want to. I returned the phone yesterday and bought the blackberry curve which I love. The reception is perfect and typing is easy. I recommend never buying the storm!
