Released: July 1, 2008

The WWE is at it again with a new PPV DVD release, WWE One Night Stand 2008. This PPV is a bit different from all of the rest, as it is the one night out of the year where the WWE goes extreme. The PPV started a few years ago as an ECW reunion PPV of sorts, and has since expanded to an annual WWE event featuring hardcore matches for fans of violence.

The WWE has been doing very well coming off of WWE WrestleMania, and that roll continues with another solid PPV here.

The matches are highly entertaining and are sure to please fans who love violent action. The PPV starts off with a falls count anywhere match featuring Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga. The two open up the show with some great spots.

This was followed up by a Singapore Cane Match for an ECW title shot at the next PPV. This has Big Show vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. CM Punk vs. John Morrison vs. Chavo Guerrero. This type of match could have turned out pretty good or bad, but it ended up being very entertaining with some hard cane shots.

On top of these, you also get a decent First Blood Match between John Cena and JBL, as well as an I Quit Match between Beth Phoenix and Melina.

Getting more into the main events of the night, the match which had the most hype going in was Shawn Michaels vs. Batista, and it delivered as the ending was brutal, and very fun to watch. These two put on a fantastic Stretcher Match.

The final two matches were also two to remember, as you had a Last Man Standing Match between Triple H and Randy Orton for the WWE strap, as well as a TLC Match for the World Heavyweight Title between Undertaker and Edge.

Undertaker and Edge overall stole the show for the PPV, as they have managed to do it again with an extremely fresh match, tons of great spots, weapons, and more.

The video quality for the DVD release is exactly what you would expect from WWE Home Video, as is the audio quality. They have nailed it yet again, great stuff.

In regards to the extras, you get 4 historical Undertaker moments which take you back in time to some of his most memorable matches. You do not get the matches in full, as they are only highlights. You do see some great spots though from Survivor Series 1990, King of the Ring 1998, and more.

Overall WWE One Night Stand 2008 is a great buy on DVD as it is a PPV like no other for the year. You get plenty of violence, and tons of hardcore action, resulting in a very entertaining show for wrestling fans.

Content: 8.5
A very entertaining and solid PPV, Undertaker vs. Edge was fantastic.

Video: 8.0 Another high-quality DVD video transfer from WWE Home Video.

Audio: 8.0 A great audio mix, clear sound effects, commentary, crowd noise.

Extras: 7.0 The few extras here add-on some content for Undertaker fans.

Final Score: 8.4
