Released: August 19, 2008

Transformers Animated Season One marks yet another release of a Transformers cartoon on the DVD format, building off of the success of the huge Michael Bay blockbuster. Is the DVD release worth checking out though?

One strange aspect of this DVD release is the fact that the actual first episode of the season is not included, as it was released on its own in the DVD release: Transformers Animated: Transform and Roll Out, which we also reviewed earlier.

The first season of Transformers Animated is actually quite entertaining, as you get Optimus Prime (David Kaye), Ratchet (Corey Burton), Bumblebee (Bumper Robinson), Prowl (Jeff Bennett), and Bulkhead (Bill Fagerbakke) all working together.

They are on Earth, trying their best to fight off the Decepticons and others, to protect the AllSpark.

They end up getting help from a human kid named Sari (Tara Strong) as well. The first season is a lot of fun, and will surely entertain Transformers fans young and old.

As stated, this is a fantastic release, with the only exception being that you do not get Transform and Roll out, the first episode in parts one through three.

Though it is geared more towards the younger crowd, there is plenty of entertainment here for Transformers fans of all ages.

The entire show is very enjoyable, with a memorable cast of characters thanks to the great voice acting.

The DVD release also has some very cool extras thrown in there as well, with two shorts which fans are going to truly enjoy.

If the first episode was included the score for the review would be higher, but this is still recommended!

Episodes: 8.5 A great Transformers cartoon which does a good job of telling a story with plenty of classic Transformers moments.

Video: 8.0 A very colorful cartoon showcased here on the DVD format, it looks fantastic.

Audio: 8.0 The audio mix is done just as well as the video transfer, very clear and crisp throughout.

Extras: 7.0
The added shorts are nice for a view once or twice.

Final Score: 7.9
