Disney has released The Walt Disney Treasures: Dr. Syn: The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh on DVD, and is sure to please Disney fans.

This live-action title has been one which to this point has yet to be released from the Disney catalog on the DVD format, but finally it has arrived.

The film revolves around Dr. Syn and The Scarecrow, and is a classic tale which you will immediately remember upon seeing it once again on the DVD format.

This presentation has not been seen in years, and was first shown as weekly installments on Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color back in 1964.

This version, along with the later version released in the 1970s have both been included in this set so that we can check them out for ourselves.

In regards to the audio and video quality of the presentation, you get some great stuff here as the film has been remastered and has been cleaned up quite a bit.  The picture is far clearer than what you will remember, which is very impressive considering the age of the source material.

The film has been presented in 1.66:1 anamorphic widescreen and is about as good as this film is ever going to look in my opinion.  It is amazing to see what Disney was able to do with this.

You get some decent extras included here in the release such as the intros from Walt Disney himself, as well as a featurette called Dr. Syn: The History of the Legend, showing the history of the character and film.

There is also a documentary on the second disk known as Walt Disney: From Burbank to London showcasing how the live-action filmmaking was done, effects, etc.

Dr. Syn The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh is a great release on the DVD format and has been a long-time coming, enjoy it Disney fans!

Film: 8.5 A great classic film, one to be remembered for decades to come.

Video: 8.0 The picture has been cleaned up nicely, never looked better!

Audio: 8.0 A nice audio mix throughout, very crisp and clear.

Extras: 7.8 A nice set of extras overall.

Final Score: 8.2
