Released: November 11, 2008

Paramount Home Entertainment has released a new Centennial Collection of movies including Sabrina, Sunset Boulevard, and Roman Holiday.  We will first be taking a look at the re-release of Sabrina in this new DVD set.

Sabrina is a classic film which stars Humphrey Bogard, Audrey Hepburn, and William Holden.  This was the follow-up film for Audrey Hepburn after she won an Oscar, and is based on the hit Broadway play Sabrina Fair.

Humphrey Bogart and William Holden play the roles of the Larrabee brothers of Long Island, New York, with more money than they know what to do with.  They have little in common, but both end up falling for Sabrina Fairchild.

She goes off to Paris, and returns a knockout in the eyes of these brothers.  This hit romantic comedy is not one to miss to say the least as it is a classic for a reason, and is still highly-entertaining even today.

The audio and video quality for this release is both very impressive to say the least as you get a very nice video transfer with some great clarity.

The musical score is something which I always appreciated in this film as well as it does a nice job of capturing everything that the film offers, overall great stuff considering the source material is not what you would call perfect.

This two-disc set features the film as well as some extras which fans are going to enjoy.  The features are pretty vast and make up some thing such as Supporting Sabrina, Audrey Hepburn: Fashion Icon, Sabrina’s World, and others.  These look into a variety of thing such as the leading actress, supporting cast, and more.

Once feature which I truly enjoyed was William Holden: The Paramount Years, which shows the actor’s life up-close and shows quite a lot on his interests and such.

Sabrina’s World is another nice extra, as is the Sabrina Documentary, and the interesting retrospective featurette Paramount in the ‘50s.

Sabrina – The Centennial Collection is well-worth checking out for fans of classic films as it features the great film along with some nice extras.  A good-buy for sure!

Film: 8.8 A classic romantic comedy in every sense of the word.

Video: 8.0 Considering the age of the source material, this is a nice transfer.

Audio: 8.2 The audio comes across very clear, nice score!

Extras: 8.5 Some great extras on the second disc that will please fans.

Final Score: 8.4
