Released: November 25, 2008

Paramount Home Entertainment has teamed up with Comedy Central to release A Colbert Christmas – The Greatest Gift Of All on the DVD format for fans of Stephen Colbert.

Christmas, every single year, comes with its fair share of holiday releases on the DVD format.  We have seen that this year with plenty of Christmas special releases, along with plenty of other little goodies.

This year is no different as you get tons of quality stuff as you get Stephen Colbert presenting his own Christmas special to the world.

The release has plenty of big names included such as Toby Keith, Jon Stewart, Willie Nelson, John Legend, Elvis Costello, as well as Stephen Colbert himself.

Stephen Colbert is the host of the nightly series The Colbert Report, and is always very entertaining.  You end up with a one-hour program that has plenty of song, dance, and all of that other good stuff added in.

The whole presentation of the special is highly-entertaining, and one which fans of Stephen Colbert are going to have a lot of fun with.

There are actually some decent extras added in here as well with a Book-Burning Video Yule Log.  What this does is presents an active fireplace which keeps throwing books in to keep it burning, a twist on the TV Yule Log.

A Video Advent Calendar is also included as you can count down the days until Christmas with 25 short addresses, which are 30 seconds or so each and are very funny.

You also get three alternate endings, and Colbert performing “Cold, Cold Christmas.”

A Colbert Christmas is a great special on the DVD format with the feature itself being highly-entertaining, and the extras doing a nice job of adding to the whole package.  For Colbert fans, this is well-worth checking out this holiday season.

Movie: 8.2
Some very funny stuff here, highly-entertaining per usual for Colbert.

Video: 7.5
Nothing over the top, very average.

Audio: 7.8
Very average,  but clear enough as to not detract from anything.

Extras: 8.0 Some unique and entertaining extras added in here.

Final Score: 8.0
