DVD Review
WWE Home Video
Released: November 11, 2008

WWE Home Video has released Viva La Raza: The Legacy of Eddie Guerrero, marking the third anniversary of the death of the late great WWE superstar.  This new 3-disc set features some amazing matches and content, but is it worth picking up?

WWE released the original Eddie Guerrero DVD Cheating Death, Stealing Life: The Eddie Guerrero story a few years ago with a great documentary and set of matches.

They have come out again though with this new DVD, which has plenty of new content and matches not in the original.

The way in which the DVD is presented is set up to really allow the matches to tell the story of Eddie.  You will get to see interviews before and after the matches with someone talking about an experience with Eddie Guerrero.

These include pieces with his widow, Vickie Guerrero, and others who have been very close to him in the pas.  A lot of these interviews are extremely touching and set up all of the matches nicely.

The three-disc set really spans the entire career of Eddie Guerrero starting with his time in ECW and WCW in his early days.

From there, he begins the move into the WWE and follows his path to eventually beating  Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania to win the WWE Championship, and concludes on the third disc with his final match ever, against Mr. Kennedy.

For those who own the last Eddie Guerrero DVD release, just about all of the matches on this release are brand new, and were not included on the original.

This makes the DVD a real must-buy as there are some quality matches here that are well-worth owning on the DVD format.

One thing that is glaringly absent though from the DVD release is the friendship Eddie Guerrero had with Chris Benoit.  The WWE has never again mentioned Benoit since the incident took place some time a go now, and that remains constant in this DVD release.  The void is apparent here though as Benoit was a major part of Eddie Guerrero’s life.  I do understand, however, why the decision was made to keep that part out.

This is not a repeat of the past Eddie Guerrero DVD by any means as there are matches here that you really will enjoy as a wrestling fan.  Eddie Guerrero was a fantastic wrestler and entertainer, one of the best ever, and is still missed in the WWE.  This DVD release is a must-buy for anyone who ever had enjoyment out of watching him perform, as it will surely put a smile on your face once again!

Content: 8.5 Tons of good interviews and amazing matches.

Video: 8.0 A great transfer, per usual from WWE Home Video.

Audio: 8.0
Well done sound effects, commentary, interview.

Extras: N/A
The content alone speaks for itself.

Final Score: 8.3
