Nip/Tuck Season Five, Part One
DVD Review
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment
Released: December 30, 2008
Nip/Tuck continues its success with the release of season five, part one on the DVD format for the first time from Warner Bros. and fans will not be disappointed.
Season five if Nip/Tuck marks a fresh new start for the series as things are now moving from Miami over to Beverly Hills, California, and it is a nice change of pace.
Nip/Tuck season five, part one is a lot of fun as you get all of the characters moving over to California with Sean McNamara and Christian Troy leading the pack.
The change of venue definitely pumped some new life into the series for me as it had some troubles in the fourth season in my opinion. The biggest issue I had with it though was the way in which all of the characters made the move to California, as it is a bit crazy to think they could all just pack up and go.
A lot of the episodes though are highly-entertaining with many of the story plots being out there per usual. The set includes all 14 episodes from season five, part one. Needless to say, these will hold you over nicely until part two airs in January 2009.
In terms of the audio/video transfer to the DVD format, the show looks and sounds fantastic. The episodes are presented in widescreen and are clearly a step up from what we saw on TV.
In regards to the extras, there is some nice stuff added here, starting off with an introduction to season five.
From there, we also get a fun gag reel, as well as a few deleted scenes. Notes and descriptions on episodes are included as well, along with a piece on how they moved the show to California.
Nip/Tuck season five, part one brings some fresh new life into the series and definitely revives it nicely. The characters are back, the series is as entertaining as ever, and fans will not be disappointed. Well-worth checking out before part two of the season airs!
Episodes: 8.5 Nip/Tuck at its finest, a great season overall, we can’t wait to see part two!
Video: 8.8 A big step up from what we saw on TV, crystal clear video.
Audio: 8.5 A nice audio mix presents the show well.
Extras: 7.5 A few good extras, but nothing extravagant.
Final Score: 8.4
