WWE Survivor Series 2008
DVD Review
WWE Home Video
Released: January 13, 2009
WWE Home Video has released the WWE Survivor Series 2008 PPV on the DVD format for the first time, as this huge show can now be brought home for all to enjoy.
WWE Survivor Series 2008 took place in front of a sold-out crowd in Boston, MA, and I was actually live in attendance to watch the show, so it was a treat to be able to see it again on the DVD format.
The show was just as entertaining on this DVD as it was live, with some fantastic matches with the highlight being the return of John Cena and his victory, winning the World Heavyweight Championship from Chris Jericho.
Overall, the DVD release presents the entire PPV well and is a lot of fun tow atch as there were some high-quality matches put on by the performers.
The matches on the show included the following.
Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match
Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, Great Khali & Cryme Tyme vs. JBL, Kane, MVP, The Mix, and John Morrison.
Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match
Batista, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, and Matt Hardy vs. Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, William Regal, Shelton Benjamin, and Mark Henry
Smackdown vs. Raw Divas Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match
Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Candice Michelle and Jillian vs. Michelle McCool, Maria, Maryse, Natalya, and Victoria.
Casket Match
Undertaker vs. Big Show
Triple Threat Match for WWE Championship
Edge vs. Vladimir Kozlov vs. Triple H
World Heavyweight Championship Match
John Cena vs. Edge
The highlight of this show is clearly the run-in by Edge during the big triple threat match, as it is something that would get any wrestling fan amped.
As for the extras on the release, we get a little entertaining piece with Khali and Shawn Michaels, as well as an extreme rules match between Undertaker and Jeff Hardy from SmackDown on November 14, 2008.
Overall, this is another solid release from WWE to bring the Survivor Series 2008 PPV home on DVD. For those who missed it, the matches here make it well-worth picking up, as it is highly entertaining!
Content: 8.5 A great PPV from WWE with plenty of excitement, and great build-up!
Video: 8.0 Another solid video transfer, per usual, from WWE.
Audio: 8.0 The quality of the audio is superb, great sound effects.
Extras: 6.0 Decent couple of extras included.
Final Score: 8.2
