South Park The Complete 12th Season
DVD Review
Paramount
Comedy Central
Released: March 10, 2009
Paramount Home Entertainment and Comedy Central have released South Park The Complete 12th Season on DVD, continuing the tradition of great releases of this cartoon on the format.
The 12th season of South Park was a huge hit in my mind, as there were some absolutely hilarious episodes that focus on many current event topics in the United States and all around the world.
These feature Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and the rest of the gang focusing on topics such as HIV, Britney Spears, and other things.
The thing that has always been fantastic about South Park is its ability to take relevant topics and put them consistently into episodes in a timely manner so that they do not seem out of date or late to the party.
These guys even managed to get a South Park episode out the day after Obama was elected president, and showcase him in the role.
Needless to say, South Park continues to go as strong as ever as we cannot wait for more!
As with past releases, the cartoon looks great from and audio and video standpoint, with the video in full-screen, while audio is presented in Dolby Digital Stereo.
As for the extras, things start out with some mini-commentary tracks from creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
From here, we are presented with a making-of feature looking at the episode known as Major Boobage, pretty funny stuff.
Six Days to South Park focuses on how an episode of the show gets made in 6 days in order for it to air each and every Wednesday, pretty crazy stuff!
There is also a feature looking at the About Last Night episode, which focused on what was done to get the Obama election episode ready to air.
The best extra of them all though is the entire 12th season included in the form of a digital copy!
South Park The Complete 12th Season is a fantastic release on the DVD format, and not one for South Park fans to miss!
Content: 8.8 Another fantastic season of one of the best cartoons on television.
Video: 9.0 Per usual, the cartoon looks great on DVD!
Audio: 8.5 Front-heavy, but gets the job done.
Extras: 9.0 The added digital copy of the whole season, and plenty more!
Final Score: 9.0
