Paramount Home Entertainment has released the Christian Bale hit, The Machinist on Blu-ray.

Christian Bale plays the role of Trevor Reznick, who needless to say is not a peaceful man at all as he claims to have not slept in an entire year.

He works in this machine shop, and looks as if he is really in physical and emotional distress on several levels.

The Machinist picks up as strange things begin to happen to this man, who starts to be haunted at work, at his apartment, etc.

This psychological thriller manages to pull you in and keep you interested as Christian Bale is solid in his role here, really showing the anguish of the character.

Definitely worth checking out as a rental to be honest, as it is a lot of fun to watch from start to finish.

The Blu-ray release is quite strong with a high-quality audio and video transfer, as wella s some decent extras included on the disc.

The extras include an audio commentary with director Brad Anderson, as well as a few special features which are presented in full HD.

The HD special features include Manifesting the Machinist, as well as The Machinist: Hiding in Plain Sight.  These two extras focus on the themes of the film, how it came to be, etc, while the second feature looks more into the story and such.

Deleted scenes as well as the theatrical trailer are included in the release as well.

The Machinist is a strong psychological thriller which has received a high-quality Blu-ray release, worth a rental.

Film: 8.2 A very strong film that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat.

Video: 9.0 Very dark and eerie, with some great black levels, a fantastic presentation.

Audio: 9.0 Good use of the front and rear channels, impressive.

Extras: 7.5 The extras included are of high-quality, definitely worth checking out.

Final Score: 8.4
