Sex With Robots Is “Not Far Away”

According to Netherlands University student David Levy, robots may become so human-like in the near future t hat people could fall in love with them, marry them, and have sex with them.

He recently completed his PhD on the subject of human-robot relationships. He stated that “At first, sex with robots might be considered geeky, but once you have a story like “I had sex with a robot and it was great!” appear in a magazine like Cosmo, I’d expect many people to jump on the bandwagon.”

He stated in his thesis “Intimate Relationships with Artificial Partners” that over a dozen basic reasons as to why people fall in love could be applied to relationships between humans and robots.

He also stated that Massachusetts would be the first jurisdiction to legalize human-robot marriage.

He believes that by 2050 people will be trying it out and it will be taken very seriously.

Ronald Arkin of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta stated that human-robot marriages may not be legal by 2050, but they are possible.

He argues that people are ready to marry sex toys, so why not a robot?

This is the most ridiculous garbage I’ve ever read. “People are ready to marry sex toys”?!?! What people?!

This is fair enough. I would like to have sex with a robot, and marry the right one. I am lonely, and don’t feel like mating with humans, it is too disgusting. But a robot would be very nice.

This is the most mentally retarded story in years. Marraige with robots? What a load of crap. This is really just a sad attempt to foil gay marraige.

Looking at this through a technological lens - Yes, sure, it may be possible. Of course. Psychologically/Sociologically - this is sick and disturbing. To even entertain this notion is idiocy. This guy thinks it may be considered “geeky” at first. Wow. That will be the least of it. I have to hand it to dBTechno though. This is one of the most thought provoking/disturbing articles in quite some time.

Having lived a portion of my life without the benefits of human companionship, I could see myself warming to the touch of digital fingers, taking pleasure in the caress of silcon hair, or moaning at the thrust of an electronic w**n*r. What is your estimate of the time it will take before they legalize gay robot marriage? What if the robot is a robot dog?
