This could lead to early detection of prostate cancer which could up the survival rate greatly.

It is expected that doctors will be able to use this genetic test in order to help them spot the disease before it develops into its most harmful stages.

Early detection is a key thing to prostate cancer as the survival rates can greatly increase if it is spotted before it is allowed to spread throughout the body.

The genetic test originated from a study of 2,000 cancer patients. They found seven genetic markers that are linked to prostate cancer. Each raises the risk of prostate cancer by 60%.

Dr. Rosalind Eeles, lead author of the study from the Institute for Cancer Research stated “We are entering an era of very exciting medicine. This kind of genetic medicine will definitely happen and I definitely think it will deliver.”
