Florida Votes In Favor Of Teaching Evolution In Public Schools
February 20, 2008
Orlando (dbTechno) - Florida education officials have voted in favor of adding the teaching of evolution to public schools in the state. The ruling though stated that when evolution is taught, it must be stressed that the ideas of Charles Darwin are not fact, but theory.
The Florida Board of Education voted in favor of changing the science curriculum for public schools. The vote came in at 4 to 3 in favor of the change.
There have been many who have been pushing Florida to make such as move, as the push has been on to allow teachers to be able to have control over the material they teach and introduce to kids. They have done so with this new ruling as they have laid out all of the varios types of science laws and theories, and everything now appears to be on the table for use by Florida teachers, without the fear of reprimand.
The evolution standard that the education officials came up with stated “The scientific theory of evolution is the fundamental concept underlying all of biology and is supported by multiple forms of scientific evidence.”
