Bush Sets Goals To Fight Global Climate Change, Stop Emissions Growth
April 17, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - President George W. Bush gave a speech on Wednesday at the White House Rose Garden, talking about issues regarding greenhouse gas emissions, and how they are having such a major impact on global warming and climate change. He laid out goals to stop the growth of greenhouse gas emissions.
Bush stated that his strategy is to build on policies already in place.
The best way to battle global climate change, he believes, is to work more towards energy-efficient technologies such as nuclear power, renewable energy, etc.
Bush stated that his goal is for greenhouse gas emissions’ growth to slow over the next 10 to 15 years. By the year 2025, the greenhouse gas emissions will peak and begin to decline.
Current global climate regulations are set to expire in 2012. Bush believes that climate change legislation he currently has going through Congress will be a solid foundation to influence the future.
At the center of the policies include restrictions on the heaviest of polluters, as well as carbon emissions.
President Bush, more than anything else, is relying on the development of clean technology to fight global warming and climate change.
