Officials Say Trapped Sea Lions Were Not Shot Dead
May 7, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - The case of six sea lions who were found dead in traps at the Columbia River’s Bonneville Dam remains a mystery. This comes as it has been confirmed by NOAA officials that the sea lions were not shot while they were inside the traps, as previously believed.
The traps are being used to catch animals in order to ship them out to aquariums as well as other types of parks.
The sea lions are being removed from the area to help build up salmon stocks, as they are eating all of the fish basically. One of the killed sea lions was on the wanted list for capture.
Beyond that one though, two were endangered Stellar sea lions, while one was a California sea lion pup.
Preliminary results though have shown that the sea lions were not shot, as no gunshot wounds were found on any of the six sea lions.
They found many small wounds similar to the bite marks of sea lions, but nothing more.
There is still no word on an actual cause of death for the six sea lions. Some materials were found, such as metal fragments and a slug in their blubber, but these were old wounds.
The NOAA are looking for anyone with any type of information.

I live down stream from that dam, and I DEMAND to know what is going on up there. The story keeps changing, and the evidence gets buried. I demand to see the footage from the security cameras — footage which they first told us could not be viewed because no one had security clearance to look at it. WHAT? Then they told us the cameras, inexplicably, were not pointed at the restricted area at the foot of the dam where the traps were? WHAT???
They told us the sea lions were shot to death, and then came back and said no, wait, oops. No they weren’t.
Probably because the possibility of some armed gunman sneaking onto supposedly secure federal property to commit a crime like this right under the noses of Homeland Security was going to mean some heads rolling. I suppose it’s all right for them to be incompetent about guarding the safety of the dam, and hence my safety, so long as this fact is not PUBLIC. Well, now it is. Nothing anyone says from now on is going to convince me that those sea lions were not shot, and that there is not a cover-up going on up there.
