Polar Bears Get Listed As Threatened Species Due To Global Warming

Washington (dbTechno) - The Interior Department came out on Wednesday and announced that the polar bar is now a threatened species. The polar bear is the first animal to be added to the endangered species list due to the impact of global warming.

Global warming has not been kind to the polar bear by any means. It is causing their Arctic ice to shrink, melting away their habitat and causing them to near extinction.

Now that they are listed as threatened on the endangered species list, it is now up to the agency to figure out how to protect their habitat to ensure their long-term survival.

One thing that was noted though is that the ESA will not be using this new designation of the polar bears as a way to regulate greenhouse gas emissions to fight global warming.

They will have to stay under the standards set by the Endangered Species Act in how they help the polar bears.

Many conservation groups have already come out and stated that this is not enough,a s they are pushing for even more protection of the polar bears, and it will start with fighting global warming.
