Scientists Find New Portrait Under Van Vogh Painting
July 31, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Scientists have managed to discover a portrait which is actually under the Vincent Van Gogh panting, Patch of Grass.
European scientists have managed to use a new type of technology to reconstruct the original portrait.
The belief is that Vincent Van Gogh did the painting of this peasant woman, and then decided to cover up over it with what turned out to be Patch of Grass.
According to the Los Angeles Times, scientists used a new type of technology called synchrotron X-rays from a particle accelerator to figure out what the original painting looked like.
Experts believe that nearly one-third of all of the early work from Van Gogh has other paintings hidden under them, since he often re-used canvases.
