According to U.S. scientists, two types of materials have been created which bring them closer than ever to creating a true invisibility cloaking device.

The hope is that over time, this invisibility cloaking device will actually work to people truly invisible.

The work id being headed up by Zaing Zhang of the Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center at the University of California, Berkeley.

He is working with two different teams of scientists, and is being funded by the U.S. government for military purposes.

The first findings from one of the teams has been published in the journal Nature, showing that they are close to a true invisibility cloak, with the second team reporting in the journal Science.

Both of these new materials they have developed are called metamaterials, and work by reversing the direction of light.

The belief is that immediate applications of this technology may be for optical devices, such as a microscope or something such as that.

In the future thoughh, the sky is the limit as they will be able to reverse the direction fo light around an object, to the point where you cannot even see it.
