Solar-Powered Zephyr Plane Breaks World Record

Washington (dbTechno) - The solar-powered Zephyr Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) from QinetiQ has managed to break a world record for the longest solar flight..
QinetiQ has reported that the Zephyr managed to more than double the previous world record held by Northrop Grumman’s Global Hawk.
The Zephyr flew for 83 hours and 37 minutes, setting the world record for a continuous solar flight.
The world record remains unofficial to this point, but the general feeling is that in a short time, it will be in that state no longer.
The Zephyr is extremely light, as it weighs just under 70 lbs. and has a 18m wingspan that is extremely thin.
