September 23, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - Archaeologists have come out and revealed that Stonehenge was actually a center for healing.
The research was led by Prof. Darvill of Bournemouth University.
Archaeologists took part recently in the first excavation of Stonehenge in nearly 40 years, and have made some major discoveries.
The biggest of which is the fact that they now know this was a center for healing people.
It is believed that ancient people brought those who were sick to Stonehenge.
Once their, the hope was that the magic blue stones which have been found at the site could heal them.
They also discovered that there were hunter-gatherers on the site around 7330 BC, which is 4,000 years earlier than they previously thought they first arrived.
The first part of Stonehenge was also found to be put together at around 3000 BC.
The actual construction of Stonehenge, through radiocarbon dating, has been placed at 2300 BC.
