Russians Report Failed Test Launch of Bulava intercontinental missile
December 10, 2009

Boston (DbTechNo) - Officials in Russia have admitted that the 13th test of their Bulava intercontinental missile has failed.
The missile is the latest weapon being developed by the Russians, measuring 12 meters long and weighing an estimated 37 tons.
It has the capability to carry numerous warheads as far as 8000 kilometers, but the problem is getting it launched successfully.
People in the bordering country of Norway reported seeing weird lights in the sky early Wednesday, which actually was the failed attempt at a launch of the Bulava.
The missile was launched into the air from a submerged submarine located in the White Sea but the launch did not go as planned.
“It has been established … that the missile’s first two stages worked as normal, but there was a technical malfunction at the next, third, stage of the trajectory,” a Defense Ministry spokesman said.

Don’t know why the test is being billed as a failure. It looks like exactly the ballistic behavior you might want to have if, for example, you were trying to develop methods for spoof one of these high-priced ballistic missile interceptors.
