Boston (DbTechNo) – Scientists have discovered that a type of dinosaur from more than 125 million years ago may have used poisonous venom to kill its prey.
This latest theory comes from David Burnham and his team of colleagues from the University of Kansas.
Their theory centers on the Sinornithosaurus, a type of dinosaur with upper teeth resembling those of rear fanged snakes.
The team suggests that instead of injecting the venom into prey, the dinosaur would bite the animal, and channel venom along the teath that would then be transferred into their prey.
The Sinornithosaurus also had a pocket like groove in the mouth, which could have been used to store its deadly venom.
The study can be found in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences
