Human DNA Pulled Off Ancient Hair Found in Greenland

Boston (DbTechNo) – In the permafrost of Greenland, human hair has been discovered and DNA has been taken from it.

According to scientists, the DNA that they managed to derive from the hair sample marks the oldest modern day human genome to ever be sequenced.

Writing in the journal Nature, the scientists detail their possible discription of the man based on his DNA.

They say he had brown hair, and brown eyes, and lived more than 4000 years in the past.

The man would have also been very prone to ear infections due to the possible presence of dry ear wax.

“We wanted to acknowledge that he was from Greenland, even though he is not a direct ancestor of modern Greenlanders,” said Professor Eske Willerslev from the University of Copenhagen.

This is an amazing finding, as it gives us a look into what people may have looked like years ago.
