Yahoo Hacked, Up To Half a Million Users Exposed
An obscure hacker group claimed to have breached Yahoo security on Thursday, potentially compromising half a million users’ email addresses and passwords.
The group, called D33D Company, said they hoped Yahoo would see this as a “wake-up call” and tighten their security.
For its part, Yahoo says it is aware of “claims of a compromise of Yahoo! user IDs” but did not comment on how big the breach might be or how it was allowed to happen. The company is still investigating.
D33D Company’s website, registered in the Ukraine, was unresponsive Thursday, as were the email address and telephone number associated with that registration.
