Mars Rover Stumbles Upon Major Discovery

Boston (dbTechno) - The NASA Mars rover may not be in the best shape, but it has made a huge discovery on Mars showing signs that a habitat which could support life once existed.

The rover Spirit made a huge discovery even though it is not in the best shape. It is currently functioning with a jammed wheel which has forced it to drive backwards for months now. To top it off it has been trying to find a place to survive the winter season on Mars. The rover has been on the planet for four years now.

With the wheel of the rover dragging, it actually dug down below the surface of Mars and have discovered pure silica on the planet.

Steven Squyres stated that this silica is similar to what is found at Yellowstone National Park. He stated that this discovery “has implications for habitability.”

He stated that millions or billions of years ago microbes may have been alive supporting the notion that life once existed at Mars.

This may end up proving to be the most concrete evidence yet that organisms once existed on Mars. Their fossilized environments of silica and titanium traces are all that remain.

The rover Spirit may not be in its best shape ever, but it is still making some great discoveries.
