NASA Sets No New Date For Delayed Shuttle

December 31, 2007

NASA officials have come out and stated that they will not set a date for th launch of the Atlantis space shuttle which has been delayed due to problems with the fuel gaugesOrlando (dbTechno) - NASA officials have come out and stated that they will not set a date for th launch of the Atlantis space shuttle which has been delayed due to problems with the fuel gauges.

The malfunction of several fuel gauges has caused some severe headaches for NASA as they stated that they will not make the proposed January 10th launch date which was rescheduled from early in December originally.

NASA officials stated that Atlantis will not get any new launch date until the problem is fixed. Sensors which shut off the main engines of Atlantis if it runs out of fuel or goes very ow are what are causing the issues.

Atlantis is a major mission for NASA and the global community as it will carry the European add-on to the Internation Space Station as it will add the Columbus laboratory.

If they do not fix the problem with the fuel gauges leaks could occur whcih would cause the engines to explode. There is no estimate as of this point as to when they will be fixed. The only news is that it will not be in early January.
