Scientists Want More Funding For Space Exploration
February 15, 2008
New York (dbTechno) - A group of scientists has come out and stated that the next president of the United States, whoever that may be, needs to add funding to NASA every year to allow for more space exploration, as dreams of a base on the Moon and a man on Mars continue to pop up.
The group of scientists, along with former astronauts met at Stanford University for a conference on the “Vision for Space Exploration.” The conference ran for two days and calls for more funding to be added to NASA to allow them to pursue new goals.
President Bush put the “Vision for Space Exploration” plan in place four years ago, stating by 2020 we will be back on the Moon, and then we will have a man on Mars.
G. Scott Hubbarb, a former NASA official stated that the U.S. space program is in “peril.”
He is asking for the next president to add $3 billion each year to the $17 billion budget of NASA. He is also calling on the U.S. and NASA to invite other nations to help reach new frontiers in space, splitting up the cost.
