NASA To Cut Over 8,000 Jobs By 2011

NASA is apparently getting ready to cut over 8,000 jobs by the year 2011.  This is due in major part to the retirement of of the space shuttle programOrlando (dbTechno) - NASA is apparently getting ready to cut over 8,000 jobs by the year 2011. This is due in major part to the retirement of of the space shuttle program.

NASA has stated that by 2011, over 8,000 contractor jobs will be eliminated across the U.S.

The Kennedy Space Center and the New Orleans shuttle tank factory are the two biggest victims of the job cuts.

The Kennedy Space Center alone will likely see job cuts of around 6,400 people.

Beyond the contractors, it is believed that the rest of the employees at NASA may be safe.

NASA is currently moving to the Constellation program where they will build next-generation rockets for trips to the Moon and Mars.
