S. Korea’s First Astronaut Ok After Landing Off-Target

Boston (dbTechno) - South Korea’s first astronaut Yi So-Yeon is apparently just fine after the Russian space capsule Soyuz landed hundreds of miles off the mark on Saturday. The Soyuz capsule landed in northern Kazakhstan, after returning from the International Space Station.
Since 2003, this is the third time that the landing of the Soyuz space capsule did not go as planned.
According to reports, South Korea’s first astronaut, Yi So-Yeon, is in good shape following the rough landing.
The same goes fro American astronaut Peggy Whitson, as well as Russian flight engineer Yuri Malenchenko. They did suffer a rough trip during re-entry though.
The Soyuz space capsule was returning from the International Space Station, and landed on Saturday at 4:51 a.m. CDT, 260 miles off-target.
It also landed around 20 minutes late. It took search helicopters almost a half-hour before they could locate the capsule and crew.
The ballistic re-entry caused the crew to be hit with some severe G-forces.
Engineers will be examining the capsule to determine exactly what went wrong.
