Astronauts Complete Third And Final Spacewalk At ISS
June 9, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - NASA Discovery astronauts have successfully completed their third and final spacewalk at the International Space Station.
The spacewalk was carried out by Michael Fossum and Ronald Garan Jr.
The final spacewalk was carried out on Sunday and went extremely smooth, as they had to replace an empty gas tank and collect some sample debris.
Mission Control actually added tasks to the spacewalk, which lasted just over six hours due to the fact that the astronauts completed all of their initial jobs so quickly and efficiently.
The highlight of the spacewalk was when Garan jumped on a robot arm carrying an empty nitrogen gas tank, and did so from one side of the ISS to the other.
He then returned with a full tank to replace it.
