Now That Ice Has Been Found On Mars, What About Life?
June 23, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - A major discovery was made last week by the Phoenix Mars Lander, as it revealed that the red planet did contain ice, showing there is water. Now the question comes up, since ice has been found, what about life?
The NASA Phoenix Mars Lander discovered big white chunks of material last week after digging in the soil.
Investigators involved in the mission were unsure as to whether or not the big white chunks were ice, or salt.
Upon going back a few days later, they found that the white chunks had disappeared, or evaporated.
This confirmed that the white chunks were indeed ice, which melted away to water and then evaporated.
From here, the search moves on as scientists try to figure out if life could be supported on Mars now, or if it could have been supported in the past.
Scientists will be relying on samples supplied and gathered by Phoenix to fully analyze everything around on Mars.
There is nothing that says to this point that there is no chance of any signs of life being found.
It could be an extremely interesting mission for Phoenix to say the least.
