Search For Life Is On, Liquid Lake Found On Saturn’s Moon Titan
July 31, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - The search for life has expanded beyond Mars, as scientists have discovered that there is liquid on the Saturn moon Titan.
Scientists to this point are uncertain about just how deep this liquid is on Titan, as it appears to be in the form of a lake.
Speculation has stated that it could be very deep, or just a few feet deep.
The discovery was made by an orbiting spacecraft known as Cassini.
It managed to use a visual as well as an infrared spectrometer to measure the chemical composition of objects.
Scientists confirmed that the lake they discovered on Titan was indeed made of liquid following this research.
The big question now is whether or not life is on the Saturn moon of Titan.
The next logical step would be to find more about the composition of Saturn’s largest moon, as many believe that it has the same chemical make-up of Earth.
Both Earth and Titan are both believed to have methane, propane, nitrogen, and other chemicals they both share.
The discovery was led by a team of scientists from the University of Arizona, and the report has been published in the journal Nature.
