Georgia, Russia Conflict Creates Problems For NASA
August 15, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - The conflict going on between Russia and Georgia is creating quite a few problems for NASA, and the progress of the International Space Station.
The problems are beginning to become very clear, due to the fact that the conflict between Georgia and Russia is creating relations problems between the U.S. and Russia.
Because of this, if the conflict continues and nothing is solved, NASA may not be able to get to the International Space Station via Soyuz flights.
NASA is set to retire the space shuttle in 2010, and will not have the replacement ready to go until 2015.
So from 2010 to 2015, the only way for NASA to actually get to the International Space Station, would be to hitch a ride with Russia.
NASA hsa a deal so that they can get to the ISS until 2011, but at that point a vote will come up to see if that can continue.
If this continues though, Russia may be in the position to block out NASA completely.
