NASA May Not Be Ready To Pull Plug On Space Shuttle

August 31, 2008

It appears that NASA may not be ready to pull the plug on the U.S. space shuttle after all, as they are looking into whether or not it can still fly beyond its planned 2010 retirement.Washington (dbTechno) - It appears that NASA may not be ready to pull the plug on the U.S. space shuttle after all, as they are looking into whether or not it can still fly beyond its planned 2010 retirement.

A report out of the Orlando Sentinel in Florida on Saturday revealed that an e-mail was sent out by NASA Administrator Michael Griffin.

In the e-mail, he has ordered his staff to look into whether or not the space shuttle can actually fly past 2010.

As of right now, it appears that NASA’s plan is to still retire the space shuttle in 2010, but they are not ready to give up on it so fast.

This comes as NASA continues work on the Constellation program to get the replacement to the space shuttle rady to go.

The biggest issue at this point though, if NASA does want to continue the space shuttle program is to find the funding to actually do it.

Reports though have stated that if they were able to get the money from Congress, they could actually continue with the space shuttle for possibly 5 more years.
