GeoEye Imaging Satellite Launches With Google Logo

Washington (dbTechno) - The GeoEye-1 Earth imaging satellite launched over the weekend, with the Google logo, and GeoEye logo highly visible on its side.
The GeoEye-1 is the highest resolution commercial Earth imaging satellite ever launched.
It was built as part of the U.S. National Geospatial Agency’s NextView program.
The cost of building the actually satellite has been supported by those in the industry who will use it, such as Google.
The GeoEye-1 carried a price tag of $502 million, and will provide Google with images for Google Earth, and Google Maps services.
The images it will be able to take are double that of the resolution of the most recent GeoEye satellite.
