First Photos Of Planets Outside Our Solar System Taken
November 17, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - Astronomers have managed to take the first photos of planets outside of our own solar system.
NASA, along with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory have released the first-ever pictures taken from planets outside of our solar system.
The Gemini North and Keck telescopes took the poctures from Hawaii.
The pictures were taken of three extrasolar planets which orbit the star HR8799.
The star they orbit is said to be 1.5 times bigger than our sun, and is 130 light-years away in a constellation known as Pegasus.
Along with the images of these 3 planets, the Hubble Space Telecope picked up an image of a 4th planet in the system as well.
