Successful Launch for NASA Weather Satellite

Boston (DbTechNo) - In NASA news, on Saturday a Delta 4 rocket blasted off into space, carrying with it a new weather satellite.

The launch of the rocket was delayed for a day due to bad weather, but on Saturday all went off without a hitch.

The GOES satellite will orbit the earth, acting as a spare for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for hurricane and tornado tracking.

The satellite will orbit at a height of 22,000-miles above the earth, and will attain this height a week from now.

The satellite is one of the most high tech models ever launched, having the capability to track up to 3 fifths of the worlds’ weather at any given time.

“GOES-O will provide another important operational asset to NOAA and will become part of the nation’s infrastructure for both weather and environmental forecasting,” said Steve Kirkner, GOES project manager at NASA.
