Olympic Swimmer Missy Franklin Dedicates Her Olympic Races to Colorado
London, England – US Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin, from Colorado, has announced that all of her races in the 2012 Summer Games will be dedicated to the people of Colorado in memory of those affected by the Aurora massacre earlier this month, reports the Huffington Post.
“Every single race I’m going to have that Colorado incident back on my mind,” she said. “It’s such a terrible thing and I’m so shaken by it. They’re in my thoughts this entire process.”
Franklin, herself a resident of Colorado, says she was deeply affected by the incident and cannot shake it from her mind.
Therefore, in a show of empathy to her fellow residents of Colorado, she has decided that if she cannot shake the memory of the tragedy, she will keep it in mind and use it to fuel her performance. Franklin has added dimension to the title of “Olympian”.
