Kentucky’s Star Freshman out for the Season

The Kentucky Wildcats have confirmed star player freshman Nerlens Noel will miss the remainder of the season following a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The six foot ten inch forward was seen as a top prospect for the NBA draft as he improved throughout the season to become the leading shot blocker in college basketball. The injury occurred in the final minutes of Tuesday night’s loss to Florida and was confirmed by an MRI scan the following day; Kentucky coach John Calipari stated Noel was already looking forward to a comeback next season and will uindergo surgery in the coming weeks.

The defending national champions had recently improved following a shaky start to the season as Noel developed into one of the team’s key players; Kentucky will now turn to seven feett tall backup forward Willie Cauley-Stein who has returned recently from a knee injury. Some draft projections had placed Noel in the top five pipcks for the NBA draft had he decided to enter the draft at the end of the current season.
