The Nintendo DS has always been a great system with some truly unique experiences for gamers to enjoy. A perfect example of this is the new game, Touch Mechanic, which puts you in the role of a mechanic just like you are in the role of a surgeon on Trauma Center.

You start out as a young mechanic looking to earn his stripes by fixing cars and showing off your skills.

You will have quite a few tools at your disposal to use here in the game as you use the touch-screen controls to go to work under the hood.

These include sanders, screwdrivers, and all of the stuff that any good mechanic would need to do the work.

To be honest, I was a bit turned away because I will be the first to admit, I don’t know all that much about fixing cars.

If you have some background knowledge about what goes wrong in cars, you will likely have a much easier time plowing through the levels.

This is due to the fact that the game forces you to really find the problem areas under the hood to go to work. If you are not prepared to find the right spots to fix, and have the right tools and such ready, you will find yourself being forced to start over.

This makes for a rather frustrating experience as you will find yourself struggling with the controls and trying to figure things out in time, especially in the later levels where mistakes are not tolerated.

The game is not all bad though, as there is a lot of fun to be had for fans of games such as Trauma Center.

One such thing that I liked a lot was the ability to use the money you earn to purchase parts and use them to customize a vehicle. Little things like this give some added incentive to try and earn as much money as you can.

Touch Mechanic has some good and bad to it. I guess the ideal buyer for this one would be someone who enjoys cars, and Trauma Center. If you like those two things, this game is something you will really get into. If not, you’re better off staying away as it doesn’t have enough to it to draw in the masses.

Graphics: 7.0

The graphics are nothing to gawk at, but they get the job done with some nice little details here and there.Audio: 6.5

The audio leaves a lot to be desired, much more could have been done with sound effects and the soundtrack.Gameplay: 7.5

The learning curve here is very high, which takes away a lot of the fun in the gameplay if you do not know what you are doing with cars.Replay Value: 7.0

If you can get into it and are good with the game, you will enjoy this one for a good while.Final Score: 7.0
